The computer industry is getting bigger every day and many people are
using computer/phone accessories to ease their daily dealings through
the internet. With internet on nearly every mobile phone, you do not
need to go or move from one place to another to purchase computer/phone
accessories.
Selling computer/phone accessories is one of the most competitive
sectors of the retailing industry. Operating the business either on
part-time or full time from home will give you an enormous competitive
advantage and minimal overhead cost.
Anyone can start, build and run a successful retailing business from
home. And with dedication and hard work, you can become a successful
dealer online.
Whether you want to sell new or used computer/phone accessories in
your neighbourhood or over the internet, with clever marketing in place,
you will be able to be your own boss while making a profit doing what
you love doing at your own convenience.
In order to sell new or used computer/phone accessories which are
produced by various manufacturers in the market, you need to become a
retailer under a reseller or you can form a partnership with a company
that specializes in the supply of computer/phone accessories. You can
visit the webpage of computer sales brands you know and trust. Search
for a link on the page to an application form for computer dealers,
resellers, partners or affiliates. Fill out the application form
completely and follow the instructions for submitting your application
to become a retailer. Call the company’s main number and request the
contact information for the reseller or dealer department if you are
unable to find a link on the webpage. Request a retailer application
form by mail and submit the application and await approval or denial.
Once you have completed the required paperwork and have been accepted
by one or more giant resellers, you now have the ability to offer your
customers new or fairly used computer/phone accessories at lower prices
and deliver to them within 24 or 48 hours, while they make payment
online or at delivery point with POS machine.
A point of sale/service (POS) machine is used to conduct retail
transactions. It can provide many services, including debit/credit card
processing and cash transactions, depending on the model. These devices
are given to any registered business that has opened an account with a
bank for free.
Creating an e-commerce storefront has never been as easy and
affordable as it is today. To sell online with your own online store,
all you need to do is create a professional website that states the
computers you sell, hours of operation and special sales you plan to
run. Hire someone to build you a website or register a website address
with a website hosting company and build your own website with available
design tools provided. Include your contact information on the website
in addition to images and prices of your inventory that is for sale.
You do not have to worry about storing the computers you resell at
your home or in a warehouse because the company from whom you buy/retail
with will handle this responsibility. All you need to do is you pick up
the product when an order is made and you will do the delivery with an
affordable and reputable courier service company.
Marketing the product line can be done through the internet, print
and advertise and network with business owners and professionals at
business meetings and functions.
To further spread the word about your retailing business, you may
need to print business cards with your name and contact information and
always keep them handy wherever you go. Send email notifications to your
friends, family and business associates that detail your current
inventory and ask them to help you spread the word.

Providing back up data/files on your computer system
Providing back up data regularly helps protect it
from being erased if something happens to your computer. Timely and
regular back up makes your work safe and accessible whenever your system
crashes. You can access a data backup from another computer if your
original computer’s hard drive can’t be read, thereby saving you the
time of reconstructing your important files or data. A data backup can
also be used to transfer important files from one computer to another
when working with several computers or to archive previous versions of a
particular file.
It is a good idea to back up data in several
different ways, so that you have an extra backup in case your primary
backup medium fails. You may also want to dedicate backup media to
certain files such as a flash drive just for your current writing
projects or an external hard drive just for your photographs or music
files.
There are so many storage media to which you can back
up data. The one you choose depends on the amount and nature of the
data you intend to provide a back up for.
Flash drives: you can get a flash drive from any
seller or at any super market. Plug into your computer’s USB port, then
go to my computer inside your system to format it before using it. Flash
drives are useful for storing your most important files in the system
and making it available for use when the system has crashed or to
transfer files between computers.
Recordable CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs can be read from
your computer’s CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. They must be formatted, or
“burned,” using a drive capable of writing on them; most recent
computers have drives that can write both on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs.
Recordable CD-ROM discs come in 650-megabyte and 800-megabyte versions,
while recordable DVD-ROM discs can hold up to 4.71 gigabytes. Recordable
discs come with two designations: “-R” for discs that can be written to
only once and “-RW” for discs that can be written to and read from
multiple times. They are best suited for back up data for future or
later purposes. If your laptop doesn’t have a Disk drive then you could
use a USB Flash drive and simply drag and drop your files onto that.
Portable external hard drives: They come with a USB
cable to plug into your computer’s USB port, but have the storage
capacity of a computer’s internal hard drive. They are convenient for
backing up large amounts of data on a regular basis; many come
pre-installed with data backup software.
Online backup systems: Where data is backed up onto a
remote server. Online backup is offered by companies that specialize in
the service or by Internet service providers as part of their service
package. The amount of backup capacity available depends on the provider
and how much server space you can afford to buy.
Your computer data can be backed up using one of several methods, below that are easy to do:
Copying and pasting the data: This is the simplest
way and can be used when storing in either a flash drive or an external
hard drive. This can be achieved by right-clicking your data and click
on copy, then click paste inside the backup devices you intend to use.
Use your computer’s backup utility programme: Most
computer operating systems come with a backup utility programme that
supports storage media above for the backup of your files. Meanwhile,
you can plan the backup schedule in your system. To be effective, data
backups must be performed regularly. You can back up data manually or
set up an automatic backup schedule with a backup utility programme to
back up data for you on a daily or weekly basis. It is very important
that you back up at least once a month.
Software backup utility programme: You can purchase
backup utility software from other companies, which is designed to work
with any of the backup media listed above. Some freeware and shareware
backup utility programmes are available as well.

Ways to speed up your computer
Over time, the speed of computers may reduce and after a while, the
system starts to slow down. The pop-ups start to invade your desktop.
The programmes take longer to load. This appears as the system takes
more time to respond to such functions like opening files, folders,
surfing the internet and other tasks. However, there are things you can
do to speed up your computer.
You can do any of the following to improve your computer’s performance. These steps can be taken and the key is to do the simplest and least invasive thing first until your system starts responding better.
If you want to improve the speed of your computer, that’s great. However, do no harm and beyond the scope of this windows forum, ask for help from those you know if you get it over your head. You can stop most processes without causing harm. Caution and common sense go a long way when working with computers and the problems are often much easier to fix than they appear.
Clean Your Desktop: Is your Windows Desktop dotted with files? Have you noticed that your computer has been slow? Do you see the hard drive light often flashing while you wait for the computer to respond to an action? There are steps you can take to fix it.
Empty your Temp Directory on a regular basis: The temp directory can be quickly filled up with hundreds of temp files over time, which can slow things down immensely. To delete Temp files, you must first make sure that NO programmes are open.
Scan Your Windows System for Errors: An operating system is a collection of files that perform different functions. It is possible, over time that one or more of these system files may have changed or become corrupted. If this happens, the speed of your computer will be affected. By using a utility called “System File Checking”, it will inspect these files and correct any problem it finds.
Install and Scan for Virus, Spyware and Adware: Every Windows computer is vulnerable to viruses. Viruses are nasty little programmes that cause both major and minor problems for users. Spyware and Adware are programmes created by companies to find out more information about customers so they can better market products to them. Usually, these programmes are not created for malicious purposes. Spyware and Adware can load into computer memory and slow it down. Periodically, scanning and removal of Viruses, Spyware and Adware can improve the performance of your computer.
Uninstall Unused Programmes: Over time, you may have accumulated programmes in your computer that you do not use. When a programme is installed, it creates connections between the programme and the operating system. Even if you don’t use these programmes, they can slow down your system. If you have the original programme’s installation disk or file, removing programmes will free up space in your computer and may speed up your system’s performance. To delete programmes completely, you must first go to the Control Panel and click on Add or Remove Programmes.
Adjust Visual Effects for Better Performance: indows provides a number of interesting visual effects, including animated windows and fading menus. If you do not have enough operating memory (see above number 1), these effects can slow down your computer. Adjusting or reducing visual effects can make a difference. To speed up Vista computers in particular, you can disable features and function that are not used. For more information, read “How to Speed Up Windows Vista.”
Don’t Automatically Start Programmes: Programmes use operating memory RAM, which is also called system resources. Unless you always use these programmes, you can keep them from loading at Windows startup and speed both the booting of your computer and its performance.
Defragment your Hard Drive (After you have tried everything else): The more information and programmes you have in your computer, the more it is likely that Windows has placed parts of the same file in different locations on your hard drive. It may do this for hundreds of files and programmes, depending on how much space is available. Defragmenting the hard drive places all information in a file in one place. The result can be a faster computer experience. The defrag tool can be found by going to the start menu, to programmes, accessories, system tools and then clicking on the defragmentation tool. It may take several hours to properly defrag a hard drive, especially if you haven’t done it in a while. However, the resulting gain in speed will be worth it. For best performance, you should delete any unnecessary files before defragmenting your drives. Also, you should only do this if you have a reliable source of power for your computer. Doing this when there is a brown out or power problem in the neighbourhood, is not a good idea. If a computer turns off while it is defragmenting a drive, it will create more problems than not defragmenting it in the first place.
Reinstall the Operating System and Programmes: If you have taken all the above steps and your computer does not become more responsive, you may consider reinstalling the operating system and programmes. This is a scorched earth option – basically you backup all your data and user settings, wipe your hard drive clean and re-install the operating system with your original disks. Next, install all your favourite programmes and restore all your data and user settings.

Techno World: How to make money using facebook
Facebook is a social online community that links people globally.
Facebook is attracting more and more members every day. And lets face
it, not all of these people are Facebook savvy. And even though getting
started with Facebook may be simple and quick for some, many people have
problem with the basic things.
Many of us Facebook to express our daily encounter on the roads, offices and homes to catch fun. While some guys and girls use it as a networking tool to start a relationship.
There are no “secrets” for making money on Facebook. Simply, some very basic methods that people use to make money elsewhere, but with a little work and patience you can apply the same methods to make money on Facebook.
Facebook is free and it is easy to own an account without having to spend any money at all. There is no excuse for not taking advantage of this method, especially if you are popular amongst your Facebook friends.
As a matter of fact I have used it to create awareness. You too can start making money with your Facebook right now without having to spend any money at all on advertising of your product or services.
I also use it as a networking tool to sell stuff on my website. The more Facebook friends you have, the more chances you have of making more money.
Your goal should be to get as more traffic as you can by using Facebook. You can get the advantage of having so many people in your group to get a list and promote to them some of the products and also through your fan page.
What you need is big audience to show your ads to. You can sell multiple products and create multiple accounts for each one. Write short posts about the product and post it on your Facebook with your website link in it.
On the other hand, you can promote products related to the target audience of the page and also first build a capture page if you haven’t already to get people to sign up for an exclusive free offer and then promote to them through email marketing. If you are savvy enough and know your way around, why not use your skills to make a Facebook app of your own and sell it to Facebook users
To make money from facebook fanpage, here’s what you do:
Create a squeeze page
Promote your fan page to get a lot of fans
Post updates on your FB page that pushes your fans to share your fan page updates on their walls
Post updates that play up your squeeze page url
Create a mailing list using your squeeze page. Boost newsletter sign ups by offering a free digital goodie – free ebook, etc.
Create another mailing list and promote it on your previous mailing list. This new list is more targeted. It also asks people to take extra steps or even pay $1 or some LOW nominal fee. What you are doing is FILTERING your large list into a list of PURE BUYERS.
Keep filtering your list by making a 3rd list, this requires an even higher FILTER for interest.
You can use this method not only to make money on Facebook, but you can also apply the same ideas to MySpace, Twitter and other social networking platforms to make money.

How to Start an online business
Big firms that are successful today were once someone’s dreams, but
they had to start small. You’ve heard the cliché that you must answer
the door when opportunity knocks, yet despite often having great
business concepts, many of us fail to answer when opportunity calls.
Instead of looking for a capital from friends or get a loan from a microfinance firm to rent an office with several employees, or hiring staff and all the logistics associated with it, starting an online business from home is the best. Make a list of everything you need for your business. Separate the items into two groups: what you need now and what you can manage without.
The new technologies have the potential to connect entrepreneurs with potential customers from all over the world. Besides, our growing population relies on internet to search for product or service, email to make enquiry, text messaging, and social media to move things forward and quickly.
There is certainly no formal requirement for you to start an online business now. If you have a limited budget, please do yourself a favour and simply start your business by designing your website; in the absence of any kind of formal business entity, it will just be labelled as an online sole proprietorship and when you are able to get returns, you can then register it with the CAC yourself with as little N15,000 as business name for you to have a bank account.
Unrealistic expectations can lead to unnecessary debt. When you start a new business, your expectations should be realistic. Many people think they are going to start making money right away when the business starts. But the truth is that you need to be patient if you truly want your business to succeed, you have to prove your worth. No one wants to do business with an unreliable vendor.
With online business, you will advertise and market your business for free on your website and weblog. Blog is a good way to get the word out about your product or service to everyone without spending a kobo.
There are many reasons why forming a business entity is a smart idea. Do you know that some of the top online businesses like Google, Facebook, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo started some years ago by students? Have you wondered why some of them grew so rapidly from school projects to international businesses worth billions of dollars? Many of us are yet to realize this, and hence still live in self-imposed limitations. The internet has actually changed the fundamentals of doing business.
As a worker, student or graduate below are some online business you can start with or without money.

How to Overcome Challenges and Obstacles as an Entrepreneur
The day you make up your mind to start a business, that’s the day your name will be written in the ‘’book of world changers’’. Being an entrepreneur isn’t as easy as some people think. If it was, we would have a high number of job opportunities.
If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner reading this content, congratulations! You’re indeed a blessing to the world.
Without mincing words, here are 9 ways to overcome obstacles and limitations as an entrepreneur.
1. Move with Positive Thinkers
If you’re surrounded with positive minded people, you’ll focus more on achieving your dreams even when the going seems tough. If you move with negative minded people, your mind would be corrupted, and soon enough you’ll lose zeal and focus.
Ignore naysayers and build a network of positive minded people. Don’t make ‘’anyhow’’ friends, build relationships with people that share the same goal and vision.
2. Go Back to Your Roots
It’s easy to lose focus and start doubting your mission as an entrepreneur. Anytime you feel like you’re discouraged, don’t give in. Go back to your roots and re-think (or re-analyze) on why you started the business at the first place.
Write down your goals and put them on the wall (a visible area), and meditate on it.
Soon enough, you’d be energized and more determined to face any obstacle.
3. Don’t Give Up, Keep Trying
Do you think we would have been able to have all the nice and beautiful things we have today if people like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Steve Jobs had given up their businesses?
Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page started from a University dormitory but today, they control the biggest firms in the world. I know it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur but, you must understand that it is not where you are that matters, but where you’re going.
Keep trying even when the going seems tough. Never give up!
4. Change Your Thoughts–Meditate on the Right Things
Thoughts are pictures or images of the mind with constructive or destructive meaning. They are machines of the mind that can either grow or destroy your business. Your thoughts determine whether you’re go far in business or not.
If you desire to become a world-celebrated entrepreneur, change your thoughts!
Re-frame your thoughts by moving with positive thinkers, reading inspirational and motivational books, listening to inspirational messages, and meditating on the right materials.
Pro tip: Change your thoughts and become a successful entrepreneur.
5. Change your Perception Towards Challenges
Challenges are your best business partners so, don’t see challenges as a personal affront; see it as a stepping stone to your promotion.
6. Don’t Overwork Yourself–Outsource
As an entrepreneur, you like doing everything 24/7. Not only are you doing what you love, you’re also working on projects you’re not good at. If you’re someone like this, my advice to you today is to outsource the areas you’re weak at to save eons of time.
Pro tip: This may sound stupid or absurd but it’s the truth, you’ll be more productive if you outsource your weaknesses (the things you’re not good at).
7. Make Tenacity your Friend
‘’Where there’s a will, there’s a way”…
My top tip for overcoming limitations as an entrepreneur is to believe in YOU. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will! Believe that there’s nothing you can’t achieve.
Stand up tall and say, ”I believe in the possibility of a bright future”.
8. Think BIG!
The universe does not support small dreams. Make your dream big so that the universe would be part of it.
9. Work Smarter, Not Harder
When I first started out online as a guest blogger, I worked so hard and within the space of 4 months, I published over 100 guest posts. After about 3 weeks, I met a fellow entrepreneur (a guest blogger) who doesn’t write as much as I do, but gets a large chunk of organic traffic and makes 5 figures guest blogging.
If you think that working hard is the secret to becoming a successful entrepreneur, you’re wrong. If it was, why are Carpenters and Bricklayers not the richest people in the world today?

Explanation: How Brain Training Can Make You Significantly Smarter
As many people hit middle age, they often start to notice that their memory and mental clarity are not what they used to be. We suddenly can't remember where we put the keys just a moment ago, or an old acquaintance's name, or the name of an old band we used to love. As the brain fades, we euphemistically refer to these occurrences as "senior moments."
While seemingly innocent, this loss of mental focus can potentially have a detrimental impact on our professional, social, and personal well-being.
It happens to most of us, but is it inevitable?
Neuroscientists are increasingly showing that there's actually a lot that can be done. It turns that the brain needs exercise in much the same way our muscles do, and the right mental workouts can significantly improve our basic cognitive functions. Thinking is essentially a process of making neural connections in the brain. To a certain extent, our ability to excel in making the neural connections that drive intelligence is inherited. However, because these connections are made through effort and practice, scientists believe that intelligence can expand and fluctuate according to mental effort.
Now, a new San Francisco Web-based company has taken it a step further and developed the first "brain training program" designed to actually help people improve and regain their mental sharpness. Called Lumosity, it was designed by some of the leading experts in neuroscience and cognitive psychology from Stanford University.
Lumosity, is far more than an online place to exercise your mental skills. That's because they have integrated these exercises into a Web-based program that allows you to systematically improve your memory and attention skills. The program keeps track of your progress and provides detailed feedback on your performance and improvement. Most importantly, it constantly modifies and enhances the games you play to build on the strengths you are developing--much like an effective exercise routine requires you to increase resistance and vary your muscle use.
Does it work?
Apparently it does. In randomized, controlled clinical trials, Lumosity was shown to significantly improve basic cognitive functions. One study showed students improved their scores on math tests by 34 percent after using Lumosity for six weeks, significantly greater gains than those made by other students in the same class, who were not training with the Lumosity program.
The company says its users have reported clearer and quicker thinking, improved memory for names, numbers, directions, increased alertness and awareness, elevated mood, and better concentration at work or while driving.
While many of the games at Lumosity are free, a modest subscription fee is required to use the full program over the long term.
However, Lumosity is currently offering a free trial of their program to new users so that you can see how well it works before you decide to subscribe. The trial is completely free (no credit card required) and the company believes the results will speak for themselves.

Over the past few
years, mobile web usage has considerably increased to the point that web
developers and designers can no longer afford to ignore it. The demand for
access to business information and applications through mobile technologies
such as the Apple iPhone and iPad, devices running Google Android and Windows 7
Mobile or using RIM Blackberry is surging as consumer preferences.
However, a large
increase has also been seen when people have skipped over buying PCs and gone

How to use Twitter as part of your marketing strategy
Twitter
marketing can be an effective way to increase the scope of your business while
gaining new customers along the way. The volume of information flowing through
Twitter can be overwhelming, but there are ways to embrace it and join the
conversation. Many people and groups, large and small, use Twitter to share
valuable news and tips to influence change.
If
you aren’t leveraging Twitter’s potential for improving your sales, you are
missing out on a great opportunity to grow your business.
One
of the ways companies and causes can work together is through the use of
Twitter. Twitter can be an invaluable tool for promoting your cause marketing
program. Here are some things to like about Twitter for cause marketing
Twitter
is commonly used as a quick and easy way to microblog in 140 characters or less
about the goings-on of one’s personal life. More and more businesses and
organizations, however, are coming up with creative ways to use Twitter for
effective online
Twitter marketing strategies you should be
using now.
1. Get on Twitter – setup an account
with a name that makes sense, is easy to spell and matches the name of your
organization, business or services. If someone is already using your name then
you have to get creative and come up with an alternative spelling or add a dash
between two words etc.
2. Create a Twitter Marketing Strategy
– Figure out how you can best use Twitter to your advantage and come up with a
plan for how you’ll roll out your strategy including how you’ll get followers,
the types of people/companies you’ll follow, posting frequency, posting content
type, landing pages, on and offline promotion, etc.
3. Promotional Tweets - By using
Twitter as your company’s personal marketing channel, you can help increase
traffic levels to your blog or website. For example, you can post links on
Twitter to pages on your website, such as press releases, blog posts, new
product arrivals and the like, thereby drumming up additional business and
highlighting important news.
However,
it’s important that you don’t use Twitter as only a self-promoting tool.
Instead, space out your promotional tweets with personalized, one-on-one
conversations with your followers.
By
combining your promotional tweets with interactive tweets with customers,
you’ll be able to harness the power of Twitter as a marketing tool without
turning people off to your company by seeming too self-serving. Plus, consumers
enjoy seeing the “behind the scenes” working of a company, because it allows
them to connect with your business on a personal level.
4. Setup Twitter Landing Pages on your
company or organization’s website to optimize conversions when you drive people
from your twitter page to your website.
5. Promote Your Twitter Address on your
company or organization’s website, facebook page, in your email signature, etc.
Even consider having your tweets publish directly to a section of your website
or have your website blog posts publish directly to your Twitter account
6 Follow your Target Market
To
use Twitter effectively as a marketing tool, it’s important to follow those who
are a part of your target market. Simply following anyone and everyone in the
hopes they’ll follow you back is absolutely useless if the content you provide
isn’t relevant to them.
With
that being said, track down your target market on Twitter and follow those
people. Of course, you can’t just follow them and ignore them. Instead,
actively follow them by commenting on their tweets, follow their conversations
and encourage them to share their thoughts and opinions with you.
You
can also follow those who are talking about your company, and make sure to
leave a thank you if you’re receiving a lot of positive buzz. This will help
you use Twitter as a successful marketing tool and build relationships with
your potential customer base.
7. Use Keywords
Make
a list of keywords that best describe your business and/or industry. Then,
every time you sit down to compose a tweet, make sure to use some of the
keywords you’ve listed in your tweet so people can find you easily.
This
doesn’t mean you should cram each and every tweet full of keywords that don’t
make sense; you still want your tweet to be readable and relevant. With that
being said, make sure every tweet you do write count. Keywords are an important
way to drive traffic, and if you want to share your useful content with your
Twitter audience you need to make sure you are using keywords that relate to
what you are promoting.
8. Tweet Regularly
As
with any other marketing strategy, you need to make sure you are regularly
putting your name out there and connecting with your target audience. However,
you want to avoid bombarding your followers with too many tweets – that’s a quick
way to ensure the loss of followers, i.e., potential customers.
As I
mentioned above, you want to make sure each tweet counts. So, while you want to
tweet regularly, make sure what you are tweeting is actually of interest to the
people you’re trying to connect with.
